It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year! So what better time to introduce you to my next fabric collection with Riley Blake Designs, Christmas Village!

This is my first holiday collection and it will be available in May of next year. It’s a long time to wait, I know, but I’m so excited to share it with you now, during Riley Blake Design’s Virtual Quilt Market.

This collection started with the main Christmas Village print. My Mom has an enormous Christmas village. Every year, for at least a couple of decades, my Dad would get her a new piece for her village. As we set up the village every Christmas my siblings and I would select our favorite houses and characters. I think we all liked to imagine what it would be like to live inside that miniature world. Those Christmas memories many of us have are formed in part by the little things we fill our homes with: putting favorite ornaments on the tree, turning a snowglobe, or maybe lighting a village on the mantle. This collection celebrates those warm and magical Christmas memories and I hope these fabrics help you create new memories you can share with the people in your life.

The prints in Christmas Village, off-white colorway.

The main print is a cute winter village scene with a lot of little details. It would be great as the main focus in a smaller project but it would also make a cute border print. In the supporting prints there’s a pretty Christmas floral called “Winter Blooms” with poinsettias and greenery and berries. The snowglobe print has lots of fun little details inside the snowglobes. There’s a whimsical print filled up with wrapped presents and gift tags because I love giving gifts and wrapping them up pretty. The sweet little angel print was inspired by a vintage angel ornament I have from my Grandma. Finally, rounding out the collection are three coordinates: a monochromatic tree print, a fun little snowflake print, and a simplified plaid.

The Christmas Village Panel Quilt. Available as a free pattern.

This collection comes in three colorways and what I love about the colors in this collection is that you could mix and match prints to make a quilt in very traditional Christmas reds and greens or you can pull in those pinks and aquas if you’d like to make something with a bit of a modern twist. This collection also has a panel (36x43 ½ inches) that can be used to make a very simple panel quilt.

I think Christmas Village is going to be a wonderful option for all your holiday quilts and projects. I can’t wait for it to come out and, as always, I look forward to seeing what you make with it. Shop owners can contact Riley Blake to pre-order Christmas Village now or let your favorite quilt shop know you’d like to see it in their shop!
