Welcome to Blossom Lane!

Blossom Lane, my next fabric collection with Riley Blake Designs, is coming to shops in November 2023! Blossom Lane is like walking down a street of colorful houses with abundant gardens and overflowing windowboxes. I’m a homebody through and through and I love the places we call home, all kinds of homes, from floor to ceiling. I love a house that says come on in and stay for awhile. Knock on the multicolored front doors of this collection and find oversized blooms and branches, a stack of pretty mail, antique keys, fun tiles, and little windows. All are welcome on this street, a place to see and make beautiful things. Make yourself at home!

Blossom Lane fabric collection now available for pre-order and arriving in November 2023.

The inspiration for this collection started with front doors. I know this might be an odd thing to be fascinated with, but I love front doors. I love the colors and shapes and the architecture around a fun front door. I initially created an illustration of front doors years ago and I really wanted to revisit them for a fabric collection. So I started drawing lots and lots of front doors. For the rest of the collection I wanted to pull in other elements of a home: windows, tile, mail, keys, and lush gardens.

The main print of the Blossom Lane collection is a big bold floral featuring one of my favorite flowers, the peony. I live for peony season in my garden, as fleeting as it is. The secondary floral print is smaller in scale and more loose and wispy with lots of little flowers and leaves. The Front Door print has a colorful collection of all kinds of front doors, with different details surrounding them. And the Post print is a blanket of envelopes and little stamps (I miss the days of “fun mail,” don't you?). There’s also a print with antique keys, because I love all the unique shapes they come in, with a small floral background. Finally, the coordinates are a nod to the other details of a house. The Tiles print is like a floor tile or the pattern of a leaded glass window, the Door Knocker print is a simple but fun design, and the low-volume Windows print has tiny windows floating around the fabric.

Blossom Lane, 8 prints in 3 colorways.

I’m really enjoying the color palette of this collection. The pink/peaches really contrast with the deep blue/greens. And, while I hardly ever use purple, this collection makes use of a plum colored reddish-purple and pinkish-lavender that I’m really loving. I think you’ll really enjoy working with the color combos in this collection.

These quilt patterns by Wendy Sheppard, Quatrefoil and At A Glance, show off the prints so beautifully. They’re both be available on the Riley Blake Designs website. And I’m already getting ideas for what I might make with this new line. Every time a new fabric collection comes out I think it might be my favorite, but this one is up there - it took a long time to design and I’m so excited to see it come out this fall.

Blossom Lane is available for pre-order now (last call for pre-orders is June 1!) so contact your Riley Blake Designs sales representative for ordering info.
